Rowan Studio is active in Romania with a range of courses, training and a volunteers programme. The charitable wing of Rowan Studio is Rowan Tree Trust and all information concerning our volunteer programme can be found on here. Rowan Studio has a centre in Zarnesti, Transylvania with a studio and office and works closely with local organisations, and town and county authorities in establishing training and projects with people with special needs. Professional TrainingBecause of the sponsorship of jobs for Creative Carers by the Rowan Tree Trust, the Studio is able to set up an innovative training programme for International volunteers and Romanian Social Assistants. This training programme provides basic skills in Creative Play and Communication. All new volunteers have to complete a 2 day intensive training before the Summer Project (Playing for Life), and the Romanians in new posts complete a 6 day training during a twelve month period of time. These new posts are for 20 hours per week and take place in the long-stay psychiatric hospital and community (Dreamcatcher Project) The full syllabus designed by Rowan Studio includes: personal care and sense of identity, hand massage, energy focussing and eye contact, play and playing, simple music, singing and drawing, movement and culture, movement and dance; observation techniques and Human Rights and Advocacy. This is an innovative training course and will help to establish a centre of excellence in Zarnesti. Please note: Play Therapy UK is collaborating with Rowan Studio to establishing Play Therapy Romania to be known as PTRo. This initiative will collaborate with local training schemes in order to establish an Internationally recognised programme of training in Play and Play Therapy. Holiday Workshops in RomaniaThird Creative Summer School 31 July-7 August Our third annual summer school, which will include workshops and walks in the glorious landscape.
Fee for workshops and social programme: £195 (€295) Accommodation and Transport: you are responsible for your own travel to Romania. We can meet you at Otopeni International airport in Bucharest and take you to your guest house in Zarnesti, Transylvania, at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains, (approximately £35/€50).
